Creation Wines is situated near the top of the Hemel en Aarde Valley and is owned by Swiss born JC (Jean Claude) and his wife Carolyn Martin. This is one of our favourite places to visit to enjoy their food and wine pairing.

The glasses are Riedel, the team welcoming and serving you are outstanding hosts

The complete visit is a treat….. the views, the people and of course the food and magnificent wines!

If you plan to visit it is essential to make a reservation.

Their usual menu focuses on tapas style and sized dishes that are paired with the wines. For those who want something more substantial, there is a limited a la carte menu.

Families can enjoy a tasting or meal as there is a separate kiddies area where the young one are minded and can enjoy their food without Mom and Dad!

The gardens are dotted with beautiful sculptures and if you miss these, you can simply enjoy the lovely views, the birdlife and the immaculately trellised vineyards.

We enjoyed 6 courses carefully paired with 3 Chardonnays, the Estate, the Reserve and The Art of Chardonnay, and with 3 Pinot Noirs, the Estate, the Reserve and The Art of Pinot Noir.

The wines were all superb and Carolyn’s immaculate palate matched the food beautifully.

Join me for a photographic tasting experience!

On arrival a glass of Elation MCC (100% Pinot Noir) was accompanied by a canape with whipped goats cheese, raspberry and a hint of lemon! While watching the sun set over the mountains!

The Whites – 3 Chardonnays

The Estate Chardonnay has a nose of lightly caramelized butter with hints of marmalade and ripe grapefruit. This worked perfectly with the salad of fennel, pear, orange and yoghurt mousse and smoked salmon

The delicate palate and minerality of the Reserve Chardonnay was emphasised by a salad of cooked pineapple and artichoke. dressed with honey, bee pollen, lemon verbena and topped with crisply fried wonton wrappers

Prawns with orange, coconut and saffron complimented the elegant oak and citrus finish of the Art of Chardonnay

The Reds: 3 Pinot Noirs

The Art of Pinot Noir had a gamey nose with rich red berry notes. The finish was elegant with perfect balance. Springbok loin with a dark cherry sauce and a grilled oyster mushroom married well!

A sweet finale!

Who could finish such a feast without a few sweet treats with coffee?
